THE STORY BEHIND MAUDSLEYSTRONG

Hi, I’m Max.
I’m a creator, coach, speaker and Navy Reservist focused on health, resilience, personal growth and what it means to build a meaningful life after the one you expected changes.
I grew up in Connecticut and graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, where I played collegiate lacrosse and was elected Company Commander, leading more than 150 midshipmen. After graduating, I spent years sailing the world’s oceans as a licensed navigator and Second and Third Mate, traveling to more than 30 countries before eventually coming ashore and building a successful career in marine fuel oil trading and brokerage.

About MaudsleyStrong

Then, at 26, my life changed when my dad died suddenly of a heart attack at 54.
Losing him changed the way I thought about time, success and the life I was building. I began questioning how much of my life was being spent chasing the next accomplishment and how much was actually being spent on the people, experiences and work that made me feel alive.
Over the next few years, those questions led me to rebuild a lot of my life. I became more intentional about my health, challenged myself physically, stepped away from alcohol, traveled with a greater appreciation for being able to go and eventually walked away from the corporate career I had spent years building to create MaudsleyStrong.
Today, I share that journey with a community of people who are trying to build stronger, healthier and more meaningful lives of their own. Through my content, coaching and speaking, I explore grief, health, longevity, discipline, adventure and purpose, not as someone who has everything figured out, but as someone who has learned how much can change when you stop assuming you have forever to become the person you want to be.

That idea sits at the heart of everything I do with MaudsleyStrong: the hardest chapters of our lives can change us deeply without becoming the end of our story.

For me, that’s grief to grit.
